ITEG:
A Company Perspective
The
Integrated Technology Education Group believes that
expenditures can be optimized, student outcome improved and
the total learning experience excited by
incorporating education technology as part of an integrated
education system. This requires facilitating
the linkage between building design, classroom
environment, teacher training,
technology application, and more.
A systems approach facilitates a vigorous
process of analysis, adoption, modification and
optimization. It also provides opportunities for a
close working relationship between the academic
community, government agencies and the providers of
technology and supporting services.

The teaching/learning process is optimized by
attention to small details; the challenge is to know
which details count.

A Systems Approach to a Technology Rich Learning
Environment
Planning is required for many reasons, the primary
being to provide an opportunity to consider the
multitude of "what if" questions arise before the
actual event occurs.
IA systems
approach to planning offers many advantages, including:
definition of areas of responsibility;
careful deliberations of expectations,
and the best means to satisfy these needs;
accurate and relevant product and service interface
definition;
• a higher level of documentation quality;
an increased recognition of the importance of schedule
compliance;
• increased team cooperation;
improved cost predictability ...and lower total cost, and
a MUCH higher probability of program success.

In
the engineering profession each component of a system
is recognized as possibly affecting another. The
same is true in education. A systems
approach to the education process, with
an emphasis on the relationship between classroom design, student
comfort, professional training, technology use, and
budget constraints will optimize student outcome.
The ITEG team role is to be the catalyst for an
invigorated education system based on the appropriate
application of 21st Century technology, and proven
20th Century methods. |
Policy decisions should be based on data and quantitative
analysis. Over the long term data and facts win!
